FairFuelUK’s dedication and hard work was recognised at the esteemed CIPR Excellence awards in London, winning the ‘Public Affairs Campaign of the Year’ award under the FTA-backed fuel duty campaign founded by Peter Caroll.
No fewer than 28 awards were presented by former 110m hurdles world champion Colin Jackson at the glam ceremony in the Grand Ballroom of London’s renowned Park Lane Hilton hotel. The awards celebrated the best PR campaigns in every aspect of the industry with winners representing campaigns in sport, policing, tourism and more.
In the Public Affairs category the FairFuelUK campaign was nominated alongside five other campaigns representing a diverse range of issues, including the pushy to gain planning permission for Scotland’s first commercial gold mine and the Royal British Legion’s successful drive to have the Military Covenant enshrined in law.
The eminent judging panel decided that the energy and skill of Peter and his team gave FairFuelUK the edge, yet FairFuelUK has harnessed a wide range of public, parliamentary and media tools to achieve two reversals of fuel duty cuts and kept fuel duty at the top of the political and media agenda for 18 months.
