In a UK first, Bedfords Transport has invested in two Iveco EcoStralis tractor units to run on behalf of its recent acquisition, LinQ Alliance.
The new 44 tonne 4×2 EcoStralis tractor units have been purchased from Yorkshire based truck and van dealership and longstanding partner, Northern Commercials and will carry LinQ Alliance livery.
Iveco offers at least a 4% improvement in fuel economy with the EcoStralis, Bedfords is the first UK haulier to have invested in the new technology. Bedfords has recently acquired logistics network LinQ Alliance, and is already investing in the company with the purchase of these new units. Bedfords has continued to grow over the last 12 months and is renowned for its commitment to ensuring its service is on time and has an outstanding track record for accuracy and reliability.
The investment in the new units from Northern Commercials, demonstrates how the company is expanding its fleet but also taking into consideration the environmental issues surrounding the transport industry. The EcoStralis is a representation of Iveco’s commitment to ensure maximum productivity and aiming to reduce operating costs, reducing the impact on today’s environment. Proven results show the EcoStralis reduces fuel consumption on long distance operations.
Steff Pfadenhauer, Managing Director at Bedfords commented: “Investing in the new EcoStralis units is another move forward for Bedfords and demonstrates our strong relationship with Northern Commercials.
“We work hard to reduce fuel consumption with our current fleet but these new units help to reduce it further still, continuing to aid Bedfords to provide the reliable service we are known for.”
Roger Peel, Dealer Principle at Northern Commercials said: “We have a long standing relationship with Bedfords and this is shown through this latest investment. The new units will provide huge fuel savings for Bedfords and we are proud that one of our customers will be the first to operate an EcoStralis in the UK.”
