In a novel twist, during the London Olympics, you could see your deliveries arriving via roller-bladers and runners, in a bid to avoid congestion.
Trials for various delivery options have been made, and the result is an increase to the delivering motorcycle and bicycle fleets in the form of five roller-bladers and twenty joggers.
Chief Executive of CitySprint Patrick Gallagher said “We have spent months preparing for the games, which has included making a substantial investment in market leading routing technology as well as testing scenarios and methods of transport.”
Courier assistants will also be used in vans to access addresses affected by road closures and parking restrictions, and CitySprint service centres will also be open longer giving customers the option to collect their deliveries personally. The company is also re-timing deliveries which need to move by van (evening van deliveries), encouraging customers to extend loading bay opening times and ensuring that all deliveries which can be made are delivered.
