Ahead of its UK launch in 2013, the Iveco Stralis Hi-Way has been voted International Truck of the Year (ITOY), a decade after the original Iveco Stralis won the award.
The judging panel for the award includes some of the leading journalists from top commercial magazines throughout Europe.
The New Stralis’ commitment to lowering fuel consumption was a big factor amongst the judges, Commercial Motor’s representative on the judging panel, Brian Weatherley said: “Iveco’s focus on reducing the total cost-of-ownership with the new Stralis Hi-Way will not go unnoticed by those UK road hauliers looking for ways to retain what tight margins they currently achieve.”
Iveco often lead the way with innovative new features and the new Stralis Hi-Way is no different. The unique High Efficiency SCR (HI-eSCR) catalytic reduction system, designed, patented and produced by FPT Industrial, makes the new STRALIS the only heavy vehicle on the market to meet Euro VI emission limits without the use of EGR.
Gianenrico Griffini, ITOY Chairman, said: “Iveco has delivered a state-of-the-art heavy-duty, long-haul truck with an innovative engine solution and advanced telematics that will make a substantial contribution to lowering the total cost of ownership for Europe’s truck operators.”
